Other Faiths

At All Saints' school, learning about other faiths is an essential aspect of fostering respect, understanding, and empathy for people of all backgrounds. Within the framework of the RED (Religious Education Directory) and the Vine and Branches scheme, pupils are taught about the richness and diversity of world religions in a way that is rooted in Catholic values. The Vine and Branches model emphasises the central role of Christ and the Church while encouraging respectful engagement with other faith traditions. This approach supports the formation of a well-rounded religious identity, allowing children to appreciate their own faith more deeply while developing a spirit of openness and dialogue with others in our multi-faith society.

Visit from Simon – Learning About Judaism

We were delighted to welcome Simon, a Jewish visitor, to our Catholic school for a special talk about Judaism. Simon shared fascinating insights into his faith, including Jewish traditions, beliefs, festivals, and the meaning behind some of their customs.

He spoke about the importance of family, prayer, and community in Jewish life, and explained significant symbols such as the Star of David and the Torah. Our pupils had the chance to ask thoughtful questions and learn how people of different religions can respect and celebrate each other’s beliefs.

Simon's visit was a wonderful opportunity to deepen our understanding of another faith and to reflect on the shared values between Judaism and Christianity, such as kindness, charity, and faith in God.
